Holding Area
click the images for full view (opens new window)
See the palpation rail in the connecting alley between the free stall and the holding area. JanAire Curtains on the side walls and an insulated roof line keep this area workable all winter long.
Holding area with PolyVents on the sides with a JanAire Ridge Vent in the peak.
Notice JanAire RidgeVent down the center.
The bladders shown are in the deflated, or open, position.
JanAire RidgeVent inflation fans are mounted down on the outside walls of the holding area and air is plumbed up to the RidgeVent with 2” sch. 40 PVC pipe.
Here’s how it works: When the holding area is empty, the ridge is closed minimizing any heat loss from the area. As the cows start to fill the area and generate some excess heat a thermostat will tell the RidgeVent to open. If more air is called for, the thermostats will tell the appropriate curtains to open. As the area empties out, the sequence will reverse itself until it is all closed up and waits for the next group of cows or until the next milking cycle starts.
Cold winter day, holding area is full and JanAire curtains are partially open.
Here is JanAire’s steel frame curtain system incorporated into the side wall of a steel structure used as a holding area.
Here is what that same steel frame curtain looks like on the inside.
12’ JanAire steel frame curtain on the north side of a holding area in the summer. It is in the full open position.
And a 7’ JanAire steel frame curtain on the south side of the same barn.
How about a small holding area for a hospital parlor?
Here’s the parlor …
And here’s the holding area for the parlor.
